I’ve never heard of The Mill Outlet.  Who are you? top
The Mill Outlet is a family owned retail linen store that opened in 1978. We have a 10,000 square foot store in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, with a staff of 10 experienced employees. Because we are not located everywhere and therefore, not as well known as some large, chain stores; we believe that we are better equipped to serve our local communities. We strive to extend that same level of service to our Internet customers as well.

Why are your prices so low?  Is your merchandise first quality? top
Yes, all of our online merchandise is first quality.  The Mill Outlet slogan is “Quality Linens for Less.”  Because we are a family-owned business, we are able to establish a good relationship with the manufacturers and keep our expenses and prices low.

You can email us anytime at mail@milloutlet.com or you can call our toll-free number, 888-207-3052, year-round, Monday through Friday, from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. EST.  You will be able to speak to a member of our trained sales staff, not an automated answering system.

When can I expect my order to ship and how long will it take to arrive? top
Provided that we have your merchandise in stock, orders will ship on the next business day.  All orders ship UPS ground and usually take no more than 5 business days to arrive.  If for some reason your merchandise is not in stock, you will receive a phone call asking how you would like us to proceed and you will not be charged until your merchandise is here and ready for shipping.  We do not ship partial orders unless you, the customer, have authorized us to do so.

When will my credit card be charged? top
We never charge your credit card until your order is packaged and ready to ship.

Do you ever provide my information to other sources? top
No.  All orders and personal information are transmitted on secure servers which prevents your private information from being intercepted.  All personal information entered is strictly confidential and will not be traded or sold to any third party.

How do I know if my order has been placed? top
You will receive a confirmation email shortly after placing your order.

What if I make a mistake or want to change my order? top
If you make a mistake or want to change your order, please call us at 888-207-3052 or email us at mail@milloutlet.com.  We should be able to accommodate you as long as your order has not yet been shipped.

Is there any way to track my order? top
When your merchandise is shipped, you will receive an email from us with a UPS tracking number.  You can use the UPS website and your tracking number to track your order.

Will all the items in my order come in one package? top
The majority of the time, yes.  However, if your order is exceptionally large, we may need to use multiple boxes and you will receive tracking numbers for each individual box.  Also, if something is not in stock, we will partially ship your order if you authorize us to do so, and the remainder of your order will be shipped as soon as it arrives.

Do you charge sales tax? top
Another benefit of being a small, family-owned business is that we charge 6% sales tax for Maryland orders only.

What is your return policy? top
Merchandise may be returned within 30 days of purchase as long as it is in new condition, with all packaging and all ticketing. Please include your name, order #, and reason for return. You are responsible for all return shipping charges and you will not be reimbursed. Open package sheets and mattress pads may not be returned.

Does The Mill Outlet have a catalog? top
No, we are constantly receiving new merchandise and could not keep a printed catalog updated.  This is another method by which we keep our costs down.  However, our website is updated frequently, so please check back with us often for new products.

You have a lot of different types of bedding on your website.  What is the difference between comforters, bedspreads, duvet covers, coverlets and quilts? top
Comforters are a type of bed covering that consist of two pieces of fabric sewn together, containing layers of filling.  Comforters cover the top and sides of a mattress, but do not extend past the box spring or over the pillows.  All of the Croscill and Thomasville comforters that we sell are overstuffed to create a fuller, more inviting overall appearance.

Go to Comforters

Bedspreads are thinner and larger bed coverings than comforters.  They extend almost to the floor and cover the bed pillows.  Unlike with comforters, bedskirts and pillow shams are not required with bedspreads.

Coverlets are thin bed coverings that cover the top and sides of a mattress.  They can be used by themselves or as an additional layer between a comforter and a sheet.

Quilts consist of two pieces of fabric sewn together with a filling.  The filling is held in place by decorative stitching.  They are thicker than coverlets, but not as thick as comforters.

Duvet covers are large, decorative encasings that cover and protect a plain comforter, known as the duvet.  The duvet is placed inside the duvet cover and is often secured by ties, buttons or zippers.

What’s in a comforter set? top
A comforter set includes: comforter, bedskirt and pillow shams.  Typically, a twin comforter set includes: twin comforter, twin bedskirt and (1) standard sham.  A full comforter set includes: full comforter, full bedskirt and (2) standard shams. A queen comforter set includes: queen comforter, queen bedskirt and (2) standard shams.  A king comforter set includes: king comforter, king bedskirt and (2) king shams.

Go to Comforter Sets

I have a very deep mattress, and most comforters do not cover it completely.  Should I buy the next size up? top
It probably isn’t necessary.  All the comforters that we carry by Croscill and Thomasville are overfilled and designed to fit deep mattresses.  Also, since most of our comforters come in sets, you would be stuck with the wrong sized bedskirt as well as possibly the wrong size and number of pillow shams.  However, if your mattress is extremely deep, the next larger size comforter would probably work fine.  This also works with quilts and coverlets, and since we do not sell them in sets, you wouldn’t run into the difficulties with the bedskirts and shams.

What’s included in a daybed set? top
A daybed is essentially a twin bed turned sideways, with head, foot, and back pieces so that it may also be used as a couch. A daybed set includes: daybed comforter, (3) standard pillow shams and a daybed bedskirt.

How do I know how many valances I need for my window? top
Measure your window frame width and add 2 inches on both sides.  Window coverings should measure 2-3 times the width for the desired, full effect.

What are some different types of cotton? top
One of the highest quality types of cotton is Egyptian cotton, known for its long and strong, durable fibers.  It is smoother than other types, and more resistant to pilling and breakage.  Pima cotton is another good quality cotton with long fibers, but not quite as long as Egyptian.

A lot of your sheets are labeled as combed cotton sateen.  What does that mean? top
When something is referred to as sateen, it means that the cotton fabric has a satin-like finish.  This is achieved by a different structure in the weaving process, which places more threads on the surface, making the fabric softer.
Combed cotton refers to cotton that has had the shortest, most breakable threads removed, making it extra soft and durable.

Go to Sheets

What does thread count mean? top
Thread count refers to how many threads are present in one square inch of fabric.  Typically, a higher thread count indicates a better quality sheet, although personal preference should be the ultimate deciding factor.

Thread ply is also an indicator of fabric quality.  Single-ply is typically softer and more durable.  Double or multi-ply sheets refer to the twisting of threads, which has been used to artificially increase the thread count, without actually improving the quality of the product.  In fact, it is often poorer quality, shorter threads used in two-ply fabrics.

All sheets sold by The Mill Outlet are single-ply, to ensure that you, the customer, get the best product possible.
